Periyali, the superb Greek restaurant in Chelsea, was the venue May 28th for the debut of Café Tempest: Adventures on a Small Greek Island.
Friends, family and a swarm of New York media came to celebrate the author's first work of fiction, and her first cocktail '
the 'Tempestini®' -- the world's only retsina 'based cocktail.
Barbara and her friends created it to redress the scandalous slash loving portrayal of retsina in her fictional memoir. Sales of Café Tempest were lively, as was the action around the'Tempestini's bar. She suspects there's a connection.
Kellari Parea Bistro in New York City, caterers of the
delicious December book party thrown by the Greek Consul General, is the first restaurant to feature the Tempestini on its menu.
3 oz. Retsina, chilled
1
1/2 oz. of Samos Moscato wine, chilled
1/2 oz. pure unsweetened cranberry juice
Splash of Triple Sec
Ice
1. Put all the ingredients in a martini shaker full of ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled glass.
2. Garnish with a fresh fruit and sip while reading a book…say Cafe Tempest. OPA!
